Respite

In and Out of Home

In order to provide the best possible opportunity for family success in the at-home services program, Hamaspik offers home respite. Hourly care is offered either in the family’s home or at the home of a respite provider. Parents can also leave for a vacation weekend or some longer period of time knowing their child or adult family member is being cared for by another family. This family is trained to offer the same level of care, the same attention to detail, the same religious environment, the same routines, the same experiences in the community. The objective of the Hamaspik Provider Network is to make this a seamless and meaningful transition for everyone in the family, allowing the parents to return to their home refreshed, with renewed energy and enthusiasm.

Center-based Respite

The Hamaspik After School and School Break Respite provides relief for parents and caregivers of individuals with mental retardation and developmental disabilities who reside at home with their families. The program is offered outside of the home in an acceseble and accommodating center. The program operates during after school hours on weekdays, and during the day for off-school days such as Sunday’s and legal holiday’s. Hamaspik provides transportation to and from the center, and snacks during the program.
